Which Raw Materials Should Be Used to Produce Odorless Silicone Hoses?

We all know that silicone hoses play a very important role in transportation, daily life, medical treatment, machinery, aviation and other fields. Silicone hoses in each field have their relevant characteristics and advantages, but sometimes there will be a smell during use. What is the reason for this?
First of all, it is normal for silicone hoses to have a smell, but for silicone hoses in some industries, they cannot have a smell. So what kind of raw materials should be used for such silicone hoses that cannot have a smell to ensure that the produced silicone hoses are odorless?

1. It is easier to use EPDM, but it must be genuine rubber, preferably metallocene-based, with an ENB content of about 9%.

2. The selection of compounding agents is the key to success. The thing to note is carbon black, which is generally ignored. Low-quality carbon black has too many residual macromolecular hydrogen compounds, which is definitely not good for the smell.

3. For the vulcanization system, the dosage of vulcanization accelerator is just enough, and low-temperature long-sulfur vulcanization is preferred. The crosslinking degree must ensure that the accelerator system reacts completely. Some odorous vulcanization accelerators cannot be used; STT/D can be used in combination, and white petrolatum can be used as a lubricant, which has a smaller smell.

4. Secondary vulcanization should be adopted. Whether it is a sulfur vulcanization system or a peroxide system, secondary vulcanization is beneficial to removing odors.

In short, the above four points are the methods to remove or avoid the smell of silicone hoses, hoping to help everyone.
